Love Island Countdown: Typical Lads

The nation’s favourite reality show is coming back and we’re counting down the days! We’ve been blessed with some of the funniest, most cringeworthy and muggiest moments and in a few weeks, our evenings completely belong to ITV for another summer of love.
We’ve had 3 incredible seasons but before we enjoy another one, let’s build up the anticipation with a look of all our favourite types of lads to come on the island:
The odd one out – Omar, Adam
Usually really well liked, no one has a bad word to say about them
Everyone loves them…but not enough to get with them
Usually eliminated towards the middle or gets to the final in a friendship couple
You know the type, they come in and immediately they’re best friends with everyone but they’re usually not coupled up with anyone. It’s always a bit cringe to watch the other islanders go on about how much they love them but just on a friendship level, they’re always quick to make sure that viewers know that! Wonder if the producers make sure that there’s someone like this every season?

The ‘Hulk’ – Jordan, Tom
The biggest guy in the villa
Usually moody, throws a tantrum at least every other episode
Explains how they feel to everyone in the villa except the person they’re coupled up with
The hugest guy in the villa, obviously! Didn’t really get one last season but they’re a solid staple when it comes to reality shows. Usually skulking around with a bit of a face one, no doubt there will be a lot of ‘don’t talk to me like I’m stupid’ or ‘I don’t really know how to talk to people’ coming your way in a few weeks. According to Love Island, big guys have poor communication skills, lucky girls!
Pretty boy – Josh, Alex
Has the pick of the girls as soon as they get into the villa
Does the worst in challenges
Usually involved in some drama right from the beginning
The one who makes all the girls watching start saving up for their first club appearance!
Now this type is a tricky one as they can go one of two ways, they’re either a bit of a mess and end up in a friendship couple or they cause a bit of a stir at first but end up with their first choice. Usually not a bad guy either, they just can’t help it, drama follows them everywhere

The one with the ‘chat’ – Kem, Scott
A slow burner, usually tries to get to know everyone first
Loves spending time with the lads
Makes stupid comments to the person they’re couples up with then gets confused when they argue
The favourite in the villa, every other guy is claiming this one as their ‘best mate’, the most quotable islander. Even though they’re hilarious, they’re also a bit insecure, usually because they’re coupled up with a self-proclaimed brat and they don’t trust that they actually like them. But the nation does! If the dad of the group doesn’t win, then this guy usually does!
Mr Muggy – Terry, Max, Mike
Cracks on with anyone
Usually misogynistic i.e. they’re quick to call a girl a slut but they’ve been with 100+ people
Good looking…but not that good looking
Arguably the worst of the bunch but the viewers favourite. Why you ask? Because they bring so much drama! Whenever an episode seems to be dragging, you know that this guy will come around to cause a bit of a stir. Usually not one of the original 6, this guy comes in around the middle when everyone thinks they’ve settled and ends up breaking a couple up. Usually the type to promise one thing to their other half, then say something completely different in their confessional

The loyal one – Nathan, Jon, Luis
Usually couples up from the first episode
The ‘dad’ of the group
Usually the winner
Awww the daddy of the group, they usually couple up right at the beginning or their perfect match comes in around the middle and they’re smitten! They’re not perfect, they love a good argument here and there but they’re not swayed when a new girl comes in the villa. Usually the winner or the runner up just because their relationship has been so cute!
Which one is your type on paper? Maybe it’s all of them! We can only hope that we get another pair like Kem and Chris this year or another Nathan and Cara style fairy-tale.
