RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 3: Herstory all Over Again
Warning: this post does include spoilers so if you haven't seen the episode, I suggest you go watch it now!
We're only two episodes in and there's already drama which is actually not so surprising when you remember what show this is. Last week we saw Morgan McMichaeals sashay away and it was time to see another queen get booted off the main stage! Aja and Dela came out on top last week with Dela having to make the final decision, then saw her crying in the workroom which didn't really seem that genuine. I mean everyone, including these season 3 queens, watched all stars 2 and saw the queens eliminate each other, so why is she so surprised? Pocketing $10,000 must be harder than I thought!
Anyway, so far I'm really loving seeing Shangela so confident, I didn't predict her going that far in the competition but this episode really changed this fantasy league type thing I'm running in my head. I mean even the unthinkable has happened, I didn't really like Milk in this episode! I don't know if it's the editing or whether she's just not realising what she's saying but she's coming off really braggy and you know what girl that just talks for ages and you're waiting for her to shutup? Milk was that girl for me! I'm sure I'll end up being head over heels for her again next episode but it was really weird to see her in that light.
Last week's maxi challenge was a Lip-sync Extravaganza! The queens did a drag version of VH1 Diva's Live with each of them being assigned a queen, that I though, suited them perfectly:
Aja - Amy Winehouse
Dela - Julie Andrews
Thorgy - Stevie Nicks
Trixie - Dolly Parton
Kennedy - Janet Jackson
ChiChi - Patti LaBelle
Shangela - Mariah Carey
Milk - Celine Dion
Bebe - Diana Ross
The rehearsals absolutely killed me, Shangela was being annoying as fuck and I was loving it! The Mariah fantasy was real and she was getting on everyone's nerves, especially Milk! It was so funny to me seeing them kind of go at each other because if there were any two that I thought would get along, it would be those two! One thing that this episode did show me is that RuPaul loves a queen who sabotages themselves. As soon as Thorgy got Stevie Nicks, my first thought was, she isn't going to be happy and she's going to end up in the bottom two and what happened? SHE'S IN THE BOTTOM TWO! But before we get to that, I just have to say that I absolutely loved last week's runway theme! Taking a look that wasn't great (understatement) and making it 10 times better and I have to say Aja, Milk and Shangela had the best runway looks, I was so proud of Aja especially.
Last weeks top and bottom were so weird to me. Even though I love Bebe, she had no business being in the top, she didn't do anything! Trixie's Dolly Parton was so good and her lip sync was great but Shangela and Dela ending up top two so not much of a fuss to kick up about that. Most surprising to me was Chi Chi ending up in the bottom three again, it's almost like she's being picked on a bit. She got saved thankfully and so we were left with Kennedy and Thorgy. I was really surprised Kennedy didn't do better in this challenge, it kind of seemed made for her and back to what I was saying about Thorgy, there always seems to be a queen who's self doubt just won't let her do well in a challenge. Last year was Katya and not it's Thorgy. So as most of you know, it was her who got eliminated and it wasn't surprising at all.
Shangela and Dela's lip sync was adorable, I laughed my head off when Shangela brought out that skipping rope! I have been using this word so much lately but it just perfectly matches what I felt when it happened but I was SHOOK when Shangela picked Thorgy! I thought she was sticking to this Game of Thrones theme and making all these alliances but maybe it's still RuPaul's best friend race after all?
Bonus: How hilarious was Milk when she was crying about not being one of the top? I get it's probably frustrating but obviously as a viewer, I couldn't help but cackle!
