Milan Photo Diary

We got to visit one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Milan! We got some really cheap flights, Ryanair may not be the best airline but you have to admit their prices are amazing:

Day One

We had such a great start, first it was literally so early that I had to beg my dad to drop me at Liverpool St station because the tube wasn’t running yet. Then I completely forgot that you couldn’t use an oyster card to get on a train to Stansted and almost got scammed into buying fake tickets. Then once I actually got to the airport and they were checking my bag, I completely forgot I had two liquids in my handbag and they swabbed my suitcase like I was on Nothing to Declare! In true Ryanair fashion, our flight was a bit delayed but the flight was smooth and when we got to Milan it was pretty easy to find the hotel, after we had to figure out Italian trains. The hotel was so nice, the staff were really helpful and even suggested great places to visit. We arrived there kind of late and we were tired so we stayed around the city centre which was amazing, there were so many shops including Sephora, NYX and Kiko! Also something weird that happened, a rapper turned up and everyone went nuts, it was really weird because half of the people seemed really excited and everyone else just seemed confused!

Day Two

My favourite day there because we got to go to the beautiful Lake Como! We had a bit of a mad start because we almost didn’t make our train so we were a bit panicked but once we got there, it was incredible. Every thing was so beautiful, so obviously we had to take about a million photos. I tried my first Italian hot chocolate and it was the best thing I’ve tasted in ages, it was so thick and so sweet, I had 3 cups that day. We got on the ferry to two other villages, first Bellagio then Varenna. Bellagio was so gorgeous, every time we took a photo it felt like I was just looking at a travel brochure. By the time we got to Varenna, it was pretty dark and everything near us seemed shut so we got a bit freaked out but we found a cute café near the station, so I would really recommend going there during the day or maybe going in summer!

Day Three

Our last day was pretty chill, we headed for the Duomo and got to look around the museum and the cathedrals. My favourite part was going to the canal, it was so beautiful and we got to get an ice cream with macaroons and have a great lunch with wine (I don’t care what anyone says, wine is gross, I really don’t understand why people like it). Then we went shopping, I highly recommend taking a lot of money if you want to shop here because you will want to buy everything and anything! We also went to Mcdonalds, because what screams authentic Italian cuisine like Mcdonalds does? Their menu was amazing, they had cheesy fried for goodness sake, it was a great ending for the trip to be honest.

This trip was amazing, it was one of the first in a while where I was actually a tiny bit sad to go back home. The food was so great that I forgot to take photos (slight regret) and sightseeing was so fun. The only negatives I could think of were that Ubers were crazy expensive and the people selling things near the city centre were very very persistent, they really wouldn’t take no for an answer. Also, our flight to get back home was at 7:20AM and the trains there stopped at midnight, so we had to stay up till around AM and catch a coach to the airport, but staying up for around 16 hours straight was awesome. All in all, I really underestimated how much I would love Milan and I really want to go again!
