Iconic London Pigment Stick Review
Wearing makeup in summer is always a struggle, especially if you have to take the tube to work and you have to take that the sweaty hell-line that is Central line. There’s nothing sadder than having a beat face melt before your very eyes because England decided to finally have nice weather and there’s no air conditioning. As I’ve mentioned many times before (probably too many times before), I have dry skin so I tend to stick more with liquid and cream foundations as they tend to be a bit more hydrating and don’t stick to dry patches. However, recently I’ve been seeing a lot of people using the Iconic London foundation sticks and their makeup always looks flawless, which could be down to filters but my sister also bought and I am a sucker for trying out new products:
I was really impressed at how quickly my package came and that they weren’t wasteful with the packaging like many other companies seem to be nowadays. I really love the packaging of the foundation itself, it’s very slick and simple and black which is always a bonus. It would be a really good foundation to travel with as there’s no way the foundation could spill or break in a bag (obviously, it’s a stick) but it’s always worth describing these things anyway. The formula is described on Iconic London’s website as ‘super creamy, giving an easily buildable coverage and perfect as a foundation base, or to be used to contour and highlight’. For the first time in ages, I bought a foundation based on some swatches instead of testing on myself first, which was a big mistake. I got the shade 3.2 which is too light to me which isn’t that big of a problem as I can use it as a highlight or to colour correct under my concealer but the formula was a bit of a problem.
The foundation starts off creamy when you apply it but then turns a bit powdery which makes it kind of hard to blend in using a beauty blender which is my preferred choice. It was definitely easier to use a brush first then a sponge but even then it took a bit of time. I think if you have oily skin this foundation would be perfect for you but unless I remember to use primer and moisturise, which doesn’t happen everyday especially if I have to leave the house before 9. This is definitely not a foundation for someone who is used to getting their makeup routine done very quickly!
I may not agree with the foundation being ‘super creamy’ but it is definitely buildable and would probably say it’s better as a highlight or contour stick. I am really tempted to get a dark one to use for contour but I think I may hold off on that. The Iconic London Pigment Sticks retails for £24.99 on their website!
