Slay All Day by Gerard Cosmetics Review
It’s been a while since I’ve tried a new setting spray, my holy grail setting spray was always the NYX Dewy Setting Spray! I bought that and the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray at the same time but the Dewy Setting Spray won for me. It always made my makeup look less cakey but I still wasn’t 100% satisfied whenever I finished doing my face so I started looking for a new spray to use.
I decided to buy some new things on Beauty Bay as I haven’t bought makeup for a long time and I came across the Gerard Cosmetics Slay All Day setting spray. The spray claims to “naturally mattify the skin” and “maintain the style that you have created whilst working to prevent the makeup from going 'cakey' and settling into the fine lines and pores of the skin whilst simultaneously offering a pleasurable sensory experience.” I was a bit put when I saw the word ‘mattify’ because I prefer my makeup looking dewy but I wanted to try something new especially when my spray was already running out, so I purchased the Garden Party set which came with 3 sprays in Peach, Lemongrass & Ginger:
l-r: peach, ginger & lemongrass
Before I even get to how the sprays actually are, I need to talk about the scents first. If you absolutely hate strong smells, then this spray is not for you. They are so strong that when I used them for the first time, I had a small coughing fit! However, the peach and lemongrass sprays smelt so good that I didn’t mind! The peach one in particular smelt so sweet and fruity, I wasn’t really a fan of the ginger one but I can bare it.
Now onto what the sprays did for my makeup. I am a huge fan of these sprays, I have received so many compliments on my makeup lately because of them! The sprays don’t go on too wetly and after about 2 minutes, my makeup looked so skin-like and my highlight didn’t disappear! Usually with the other setting sprays, I had to reapply my highlighter but these sprays made it look really blended and natural. It also didn’t make my face look matte at all, I was amazed at how smooth and dewy my makeup looked afterwards.
If you prefer for your makeup to look dewy and you don’t mind strong smells, I would definitely recommend getting this spray! They retail for £14.50 and I would get the peach one, it honestly smells so good!
