MAC Studio Sculpt First Impressions
I finally own a high end foundation! I have bought so many foundations in the last 2 years from brands like L’Oreal, Maybelline and The Body Shop but I could never find the perfect shade and kept having to mix foundations. I’ve been wanting to try a MAC foundation for a long time as my mum has been using their products for years so when she went to get a refill of her favourite foundation (MAC Mineralize Moisture), she very generously bought me my first one, the Studio Sculpt! The makeup artist who helped me was amazing, I told her exactly what kind of foundation I needed, a dewy one, and she brough over some options and matched me perfectly!
MAC Studio Sculpt comes in a clear tube is perfect to carry in a handbag or if you’re travelling somewhere as it won’t smash or break. You have to be very careful when you want to squeeze out product because if you squeeze out too much, there’s no way to put it back. The packaging would be completely perfect if it had a pump but that’s just a minor complaint.
The Studio Sculpt is described as a “gel-based foundation that offers medium to full coverage with a natural satin finish.” This sounded perfect for my skin as I explained to the makeup artist that I had dry skin and needed something that wouldn’t look cakey if I tried to set it with powder. The foundation is really creamy and blends into the skin very easily with a brush or a sponge (I prefer to use a brush to put it all over my face then a sponge to make sure its blended perfectly into my skin). Once it’s all blended, you can’t even tell that you have anything on your face, it just looks as if you have really good skin (if I do say so myself), and after setting the foundation, with the Ben Nye banana powder, I used the NYX dewy setting spray and the foundation didn’t look dry or cakey or dry at all. The best thing of all is that it lasted all day, I didn’t have to touch it up once or apply anymore setting spray!
The Studio Sculpt foundation is £26 which is the price of all my drugstore foundations put together so it’s a bit out of the ordinary for me but I don’t think it’s too bad for a high end foundation. I really love this foundation so I wouldn’t even hesitate to buy another one once it’s finished. I really would recommend this foundation for those with normal-dry skin and I would suggest you use the MAC Studio Moisture Cream as a primer just to make sure that your skin is moisturised before using the foundation.
