Made up of 7,107 islands, the Philippines is a hidden gem of South East Asia. With thousands of islands yet to be discovered, the country has attracted many tourists - as well as its own people, to an array of breath-taking bucket list attractions.
Located in Badian in South Cebu, Kawasan Falls is an astonishing and heart fulfilling beauty. I must admit how difficult it is to describe such bliss in words, but the Kawasan Waterfalls is truly a diamond in the dirt. There are three waterfalls at Kawasan, with the largest cascading 20m into a sky blue natural swimming hole. There is no doubt this gem has attracted numerous people from all around the world; the combination of its charm and beauty is truly felt once you lay your eyes on the falls.

There are a number of waterfalls hidden within the South of Cebu. These natural gifts of nature are breathtakingly beautiful, something so serene to see and experience. In comparison to what our eyes are used to seeing in the city, the waterfalls of Cebu are a breath of fresh air.
You could almost say travelling to see the waterfalls is like going on a treasure hunt. From trekking through the very humid rainforest, to climbing up some not-so-steady rocks, and walking through some very narrow and terrifyingly high edges, and finally laying eyes on a stunning cascade, it truly is a remarkable sight.

You wouldn't believe the thrill and adrenaline I lived through whilst chasing waterfalls; to be honest, this waterfall in particular had been found by chance.
The easiest way of transport in the South of Cebu is by motorbike, usually the driver's charge 50 pesos and more, depending on the distance of your travels. There are also motorbikes available for rent, however I have to emphasise how far apart these waterfalls and attractions are from each other - and they can often be quite challenging to find.

Located in Alegria, Cambais Falls is a natural pool with a cascade that is so ridiculously fun to slide off. The peaceful atmosphere, the rushing fall of the waters, and deep blue pool will have you on cloud nine. I was very fortunate to have experienced this with not a soul around - and I have frequently seen on Instagram how popular Cambers Falls is with backpackers and tourists. I must admit, diving into this beautiful unknown was both blissful and spine-chilling. The idea of being alone, in the middle of a rainforest, treading deep waters, and admiring the beauty of something so natural yet extraordinary, is a very eccentric feeling. It is almost similar to the concept of you and your solitude, except in a more physical and concrete sense.

Oslob, which is also in the South of Cebu, is very well known for spotting whale sharks. From 5am to noon, many whale sharks come to Oslob and are fed by the local boatmen. There are controversies with swimming with the whale sharks who are fed by the boatmen, as it endangers their migrations and nourishment, as well as the possibility of their reaction to human interaction.

The whale sharks are a protected species in the Philippines, and there are interaction codes of conduct. Touching the sharks are prohibited, and a 5m distance is instructed. There are a number of places in the Philippines where you are able to see and swim with them them in the wild, where they are truly free. Swimming with these big friendly giants is one of the highlights of my trip to Cebu, and I will forever cherish this experience.

And if you want a break from all the deep waters, and falls, Osmeña Peak is the highest point in the island of Cebu. The peak is 1013m above sea level, so I have to warn you in advanced, this adventurous journey is really for the lionhearted. Meanwhile, in the picture above is yours truly - holding on to dear life.

Those who make it all the way to the very peak usually hope for the perfect view of the 'peanut kisses' shaped mountain peaks, and the never-ending sea, whereas some visitors pray to see the fog, which only emphasises how really high up in the sky you are! I was very fortunate to experience both; if only you could imagine the drastic change of weather during my hike.
Regardless, adventures really do fill your soul. Life itself is a beautiful adventure.
