9 Important Things From Yesterday's Apple Event
Apple had everyone on Twitter talking about the new iPhone 7, iOS 10 and Super Mario as they unveiled new products and features at the San Fransisco event. If you happened to miss the event, we’ve recapped the important points from yesterday:
Wireless headphones
Apple have now developed the AirPods which connect to any Apple device without having to pair to it like you would have to for normal wireless headphones through bluetooth. The AirPods use W1 chips which Beats have used to develop two new headphones. The AirPods will be sold for £159 in late October.
No audio jack
The headphones for the iPhone 7 will now work with Apple’s Lightning standard instead of with an audio jack. This means you won’t be able to listen to your phone as you charge it or carry on using the pair you have now with the new phone without using an adapter, which is included in the box
Mario for iOs 10
Super Mario Brothers is coming to iPhone, the creator Shigeru Miyamoto announced a new game, Super Mario Run! It is still the platform layout like the other games but you can play this game one-handed, Miyamoto made sure to demonstrate how easy it was going to be to play this game and do something else. There’s also a head to head option, where you can play against other players to beat their scores. The game is coming out by the holidays, will have one set price so there will be no in app purchases and is only on iOS.
Dual lens camera
The iPhone 7 Plus comes with not one but two rear-facing cameras, the camera allow users to pick between shooting photos with a wide-angle or a telephoto lens. The iPhone 7 Plus will also be able to do some software tricks like “depth," which you can use the differences in the lenses to enhance the blur of the background behind whoever you’re taking a photo of.
Pokemon Go for apple watch
As if we weren’t already excited about the prospect of having Super Mario on our phones, Apple announced that Pokémon Go will now be on Apple Watch. However this version isn’t about catching, its more to encourage users to appreciate the places where they are catching the pokemon. A wearable Pokémon GO device that connects to your phone will launch next week, creators Niantic have announced. It connects to your phone over bluetooth and will be available September 16th.
Apple x Nike
A special Nike+ edition of the Apple Watch will be aimed exclusively at runners. The Nike version features special software including watch faces and the Run Club app. This is for workouts, receiving personal coaching plans and keeping you motivated. The special edition pairs an aluminium case with exclusive, perforated bands for breathability, made from the same fluoroelastomer material as the original Watch sport band. The Apple Watch Nike+ will be available to order from Apple and Nike from September 9th.
Second Apple watch with GPS
After releasing its first smartwatch last year, Apple is back with what its second generation Apple Watch. The screen is twice as bright as the first Apple Watch, it has a new S2 chip that is 50% faster than the first one, it has the same shape but now comes in white ceramic, aluminium and stainless steel. It also includes some new new bands, including a design from Hermès. The new Series 2 Watch is now water resistant up to 50m and now has built-in GPS, which makes it much more runner- and hiker-friendly — it means the watch can still find your location even if you don't have a signal.
iPhone 7
The iPhone 7 was repeatedly called the best iPhone ever made on stage with both the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 5.5-inch 7 Plus come in the usual array of colours, but now they've added the super glossy Jet Black. They have a 25 percent brighter display and the new phones get stereo speakers and a brand new A10 Fusion chip. Also now the phones are water- and dust-resistant. There’s a new 12-megapixel sensor, a new flash, an f1.8 lens. It also comes with optical image stabilisation, and Apple says that its new image processor will use machine learning to enable better autofocusing, exposure, and color-correction.
iOS 10
iOS 10 is coming out on September 13th, users will see more widgets and better notifications, and Apple has extended Continuity to include Universal Clipboard, which lets you copy text and images on your phone and paste them on your Mac. iOS 10 includes other new features like a completely new lock screen, smarter Siri and more playful and useful iMessage app.
