Belgium vs Ireland

Belgium thrashed Ireland 3-0 with 2 goals from Romelu Lukaku and 1 from Axel Witsel. They completely dominated the game with more shots, better pass accuracy, more chances created and more tackles won. Belgium are now second in Group E with Italy winning the group. Ireland are at the bottom of the group along with Sweden, with both teams only having 1 point and will need to beat Italy in their next match in order to qualify. Belgium will next face Sweden.

Portugal vs Austria

Although Cristiano Ronaldo was able to earn a record-breaking 128th cap for his country, last night was just not his night after failing to get Portugal into the lead as his penalty shot hit the post. A later header was rules out for offside as his bad luck continued and this second draw leaves Portugal with only two points and needing to beat Hungary in their final group match on Wednesday. Austria must also beat their next opponents, Iceland, if they want to qualify for the last 16. The teams are 3rd and last in group F with Portugal on 2 points and Austria with 1.

Switzerland vs France

France have finished top of Group A and a draw means that both France and Switzerland are through to the last 16. Although the French has many opportunities to take the lead, Paul Pogba hit the post twice in the first half and substitute Dimitri Payet also hit the crossbar. France will now play the third-placed team from either Group C, D or E on Sunday. Switzerland will face the second-placed team in Group C, who are currently Poland but could be Germany or Northern Ireland, at Saint-Etienne on Saturday. With Albania beating Romania 1-0, Switzerland would have progressed even if they had lost.

Romania vs Albania

Albania recorded their first major tournament win with victory in Lyon over Romania that gives them hope of reaching the Euro 2016 last 16. Although Romania had 62% of possession and managed 16 shots, Armando Sadiku was able to slip through their defences and secure 3 points for his team and now Albania wait to see if they are one of the four best third-placed teams. If Albania do go through then they will face the winners of Group B or the winners of Group C. Sunday's victory was their first over Romania since 1948!
