Mind Of Mine Review
Zayn Malik has finally released his highly awaited debut album, Mind Of Mine. After leaving One Direction, Zayn gave many interviews where he stated that the album would include songs but various life experiences in the last five years. He also explained his reasons for leaving One Direction which included not being able to experiment with music or sing and write R&B music, which he has pursues before even joining the band, who were created by Simon Cowell during the X Factor auditions.

Definitely different to One Direction's music, you can tell that this is the music Zayn has been waiting to make. A lot of the songs are very comparable to Frank Ocean, especially Rear View and It's You as they show off his impressive but seemingly effortless falsetto. The album also has a rebellious feel to it, perhaps Zayn is trying to remind listeners that he is indeed an adult now, many of the songs have a sexual theme (Drunk ft Kehlani, Take It Off, Pillowtalk etc), a far cry from the songs One Direction produce.
One pleasant surprise is the Intermission: Flower, a hypnotic love song sang by Zayn in his native tongue of Urdu, which comes right in the middle of the album. Not only is it beautifully sang but it is refreshing to hear such a vulnerable track on a heavily rebellious feeling album.
Although some of the songs can get a bit repetitive, there is no denying Zayn's talent as a solo vocalist and a creative individual, the album shows that R&B is a genre where his musical talents can grow and excel in.
Favourite song(s) – BeFour, Fool For You & Rear View
Least Favourite song - Like I Would
