Father of 4 given 18 months in Building Better Relationship programme

A father of 4 was given 18 months in the Building Better Relationship programme after assaulting his partner of 9 years in front of their 3 infant children.

Mr Nikki Taylor, 40 of Uxbridge, pleaded guilty for assault on his partner in their home in Uxbridge Magistrates Court this morning.

Mr Taylor grabbed his partner by the throat and pushed her to the ground after a heated argument over his work load on the night of January 24th this year.

His partner, Ellen Benny, was bathing their daughter while Mr Taylor was setting up a gaming system on his computer when she asked Mr Taylor for help, when he refused she got angry and shouted “So they’re more important than your children?”

Ellen Benny then picked up a picture frame to throw at Mr Taylor, it was then that Mr Taylor ran towards her and carried out the assault.

Mr Taylor shouted, “I’ll kill you” while he pushed the defendant against the wall the court heard.

Miss Benny then reacted by bending his glasses frame, which has fallen off of Mr Taylor during the assault, and threw them into the bathroom.

The fight ended when the couple heard their children crying and shouted, “You’re not the boss, don’t talk to mummy like that.”

Miss Benny then left the home with their 3 children the next day to stay at a friends in Reading and reported the assault to the police.

The court ordered Mr Taylor to spend 18 months in Building Better Relationships group-work programme with up to 32 sessions and 15 days in rehab. He was also ordered to pay a total of £145 in costs and victim surcharge.
