MAC Racism Scandal

MAC Cosmetics were forced to issue a statement after 'racist' comments were left underneath of a picture of model Aamito Lagun’s lips.

The picture was uploaded onto the brand’s Instagram and now has over 26,000 comments, with most of them being offensive comments about the model’s race including use of the ‘N’ word.

The comments have since been deleted and in an official statement to American website Buzzfeed, a representative from MAC Cosmetics wrote:

“MAC stands for and respects All Ages, All Races, All Sexes. We do not tolerate any abusive comments in our community”.

However many twitter users were not satisfied with MAC’s response.

Jenelle Isaac, 20, a beauty and fashion blogger wrote: “The sad part is this incident may actually make them feel validated in not posting WOC”.

“They should have said those comments would not be tolerated but they were probably scared of losing their customers.”
