All Hail Deadpool!
Deadpool is the eighth instalment of the X-Men film series and is directed by Tim Miller starring Ryan Reynolds, Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein, T. J. Miller, Gina Carano, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, and Leslie Uggams.
Wade Wilson (Reynolds) hunts down the man who subjected him to an experiment that left him with new abilities, including accelerated healing but at the price of a disfigured physical appearance. With all the dick jokes, sexual innuendos, bloody action scenes and Ryan Reynold’s amazing performance as one of Marvel’s most dangerous, and funniest, (anti)heroes, this may just be the best film that Fox have released yet!
As soon as the film begins, the audience are treated with some hilarious and specially written opening credits so you know exactly that this is no typical Marvel movie. With crude jokes and the always entertaining fourth wall breaking monologues by Deadpool, there’s never a boring moment for the audience.
One of the best things about the film, is that it wasn’t afraid to poke fun at itself, Marvel as a whole and the superhero genre. Although this film was very much Ryan Reynolds’ baby, each of the characters shone in their right even Karan Soni in his small but hilarious role as Deadpool’s taxi driver.
Pros – Finally a stand-alone Deadpool film with Ryan Reynolds basically being able to basically play a super deadly version of himself, amazing fight sequences and an actual believable relationship plot (rare in superhero films nowadays) with Reynolds and Baccarin.
Cons – although the villains, Ajax and Angel Dust are also entertaining in their own right, they come off a little bit weak as a result of the semi typical plot.
The film was released 12th February in the UK and has smashed records for the biggest box office opening for an R-rated film!
