Making A Murderer - They're innocent!
(Spoilers!)
After binge watching the 10 episodes of the series ‘Making A Murderer’, I’ve decided that I think Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey are innocent.
I watched each episode absolutely speechless and after Steven’s lawyers found his blood sample was tampered with it was then that my belief that he was innocent would not budge.
Here’s the background: Steven Avery served 18 years in prison for a rape he did not commit. He was released and filed a $36 million lawsuit against the Manitowoc county and officials who imprisoned him. 2 years after his release he was arrested for the murder of a photographer named Teresa Halbach.
HOWEVER Teresa is believed to have been shot in his garage and raped in his bedroom and his nephew describes a bloody scene of Teresa begging for her life while tied to the bed with ropes but get this…. Her blood and fingerprints were never found in the room neither were Brendan Dassey’s.
Brendan Dassey has a very low IQ and learning difficulties and when watching his interview it is clear he cannot think for himself, is scared and influenced by the officers interviewing him. I still can’t put my finger on why he chose to get involved in this case or why he ‘confessed’ to being a part of the murder... that to me will always be a mystery.
Her car was found on his awfully large property, in almost plain site, however someone had covered it with a few branches. Avery’s blood (however no fingerprints) was found in random spots in the car (don’t forget his blood sample was tampered with in the police station)
Teresa’s car key (with none of her DNA on) was found in Steven’s bedroom however many believe, including his defence, team that this key was planted by Manitowoc police officers (who might have a grudge against Steven as he was suing the officials for his previous 18 years in jail)
When watching the trial I thought Mike Halbach (Teresa’s brother) , Bobby Dassey (Steven Avery’s brother) Scott Tadych and obviously the police officers working on the case were all so suspicious.
Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey are currently serving life in prison for the murder of Teresa Halbach.
This documentary will leave you thinking about this case for weeks on end. I hope the truth comes out soon as I know there is so much more to Steven’s story.
