Wrong winner announced during crowning of Miss Universe 2015
The host of the Miss Universe 2015 contest has apologised after mistakenly announcing the wrong contestant as winner of the beauty pageant.
Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez was declared runner-up after the error was made and later handed her crown to Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
#MissUniverse2015 was trending on Twitter last night as shock and confusion erupted all over social media.
Host Steve Harvey tweeted: "I'd like to apologise wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible."
While some Twitter users expressed their upset over the mistake, others began to tweet their messages of support.
