Rainbow Wave PR’s SS16 Press Showcase in Camden introduced 8 new Spring Summer 2016 collections from extraordinary fashion designers.
Adeam, All Things Mochi, Ancient Greek Sandals, Arthur Arbesser, Atea Oceanie, Bella Freud, Carven and Centre for Fashion Enterprise all showcased their SS16 collections which are set to release in March 2016.
Jade Sanders, Senior Press officer of Rainbow wave PR said “Rainbow Wave is promoting the new collections from designers on our company, for some it is the first or second time they’re showing a collection. It’s really exciting.”
The most popular of the showcase All Things Mochi, Carven and Centre for Fashion Enterprise and Bella Freud had their SS16 collections.
Ayah Tabar, designer of All Things Mochi said “Mochi was born to support stitching communities and their talented work worldwide. Travelling to different destinations to design a collection, this creates jobs and opportunities for work among these women in the hopes of contributing to their well-being, standard of living and purchasing power.”
The SS16 collection uses ancient bright coloured embroidery to create tribal chic collections from India, Thailand, Budapest, Palestine, Uzbekistan and Spain to merge Eastern and Western sensibilities.
After being taken through tribal collections, the showcase graciously moved into Carven the fun, flirty brand. For the SS16 collection designers Alexis Martial and Adrian Caillaudaud were inspired by under the sea, bubbles, tanks, plants and aquatics. “Dresses and tops suggest the influence of the diving suit, while pleats and frills float like the fins of an urban mermaid. A slogan t-shirt suggests the insouciance of youth, paired with a sensual short skirt. Always high-waisted, the trouser affirms its place in the Carven vocabulary.
"Whether technical, embroidered or reworked, fabrics display the breadth of the house’s savoir-faire: mikado, jacquard fil coupé, pleated or embossed textures provide a textural contrast between structure and evanescence. A basic palette around shades of navy, black, beige and grey is brightened with lilac, Klein blue and pastels, while a dark green suggests the depths of the ocean. From these same abysses comes the inspiration for prints and ornaments, from an underwater scene to aquatic shapes and sea urchin embroidery.”
Centre for Fashion Enterprise introduced known designers such as Craig Greene, Moon J and now Marta Jakubowski whose SS16 collection is inspired by prison outfits, mental asylums. Marta Jakubowski said “I thought of how prisoners and mental health patients are restricted. My designs are also connected, whether through the arm or leg everything is connected.”
Lastly Bella Fraud showcased her amazing new trend lead SS16 collection. Bella Freud is renowned for her signature jumpers Je t’aime Jane, Ginsberg is God and 1970. Fans of Bella Freud include Alexa Chung, Laura Bailey, Kate Moss and Alison Mosshart. Bella Fraud’s designs go back to Cali is a laid back sports deluxe tribute to LA and early 90's Hip Hop. Candy Floss Pinks, Crystal Turquoise, Tomato Red and Acid Yellow saturate the collection of fine cottons, textured linen and cashmere knits. A capsule of pink fine wool Venetian tailoring and silk polka dot shirts with skinny scarves.
Her Signature Word jumpers include 'I Don't Think So' a refrain from a song and 'I Wanna,' inspired by reading Kim Gordon's memoir and in admiration of the determination and desire. ‘She’, ‘Nice’, ‘Sweet’ - open to interpretation. ‘The Mothers’ conjure up a profanity, a band, the Matriarch. Rock Dreams in sparkling lurex merino is stadium glamorous. Her jumpers are ambiguous and down for anyones own interpretation yet she inspires to tell a story with them.
