Crimson Peak is a 2015 American gothic romance film directed by the prolific Guillermo del Toro and has a star studded cast, Mia Wasikowska as Edith Cushing, Tom Hiddleston as Sir Thomas Sharpe, Jessica Chastain as Lady Lucille Sharpe, Charlie Hunnam as Dr. Alan McMichael, and Jim Beaver as Carter Cushing.

The film itself was stunning, the castles, landscapes and clothing were beautiful which is to be expected from such a renowned director like del Toro and although some of the plot, particularly towards the middle of the film felt a bit repetitive, the acting was nothing short of amazing.

Jessica Chastain was incredible as the villainous Lady Lucille and Tom Hiddleston played the role of the sensitive but troubled inventor brilliantly as the pair formed a formidable and dark pairing. It was really refreshing to watch a horror film geared more towards women, with Mia Wasikowska as the strong willed heroine, the fight scene between Lucille and Edith at the end was an exciting end to a visually breath-taking film.
