Matte lips have been one of the biggest trends of 2014 and the hype is still present. The suede-like finish are for those who prefer an effortless yet sophisticated look, without the feeling of dry and rubbing lips. Instead, we are greeted with long staying and pigmented lips that feel almost moisturised when glided on. After an anticipated wait, the Matte Lip Collection has finally arrived in the UK, and we are excited to share our intakes on them. With 12 new shades added to the matte's, the excellent news is that they are here to stay. So even if they do get sold out, don't panic too much, they'll be back soon. Or if you really can't wait, just head to another branch.

Whirl and Stone lipliners were always sold out everytime I visited a MAC store. Once the lipsticks of these shades were released, it was obvious these beauties were heading for bestsellers as well as being sold out quickly. Whirl reminds me of a nostalgic 90s dusty rose shade - and what's great about this nudey brown, it gives the illusion of plumpier lips.
Stone on the other hand, does the complete opposite. Rather than giving you the extra lift, it almost makes your lips seem smaller and thinner. The muted grayish undertone has been a hot trend over the past year, and if worn with the right lipliner, it would be the perfect grayish brown.
Antique Velvet really caught my eye the first time I had seen swatches online. Swatching it for myself was a whole other story. The super pigmented intense brown is very daring and bold, and if I'm being honest, it makes you want to tell yourself "hey, you look good."

These perfect shades of brown are easily predicted to be bestsellers out of the Matte Lip Collection. Each of them can be used to create a simple or bold look, or even in between. Either way, none of these shades can fail you in the category of looking stunningly beautiful.

In comparison to the browns, I tried on Matte Royal and fell in love with this shade! The colour compliments my melanin and truly stands out against my skin. I wouldn't wear this every day but it's a great colour for experimenting and to add to your Mac lippy collection. Another shade which is great for darker complexions is Tropic Tonic which is a bright orange/pink. After trying on all the bright colours I moved onto the shade Stone but it was a bit of a struggle for me as I felt it drained the colour from my face as it has a tint of grey to it, but it's nothing that a dark brown lip liner like Chestnut can't fix.
